新緑の草原で牛が草をはみ、画面右には林檎の花が咲き誇っています。それらは絵具を混ぜず点のように並べた筆跡で描かれることによって、鮮やかな色彩効果を見せています。サインの赤や、家並みの赤茶色、リンゴの花のピンクなど赤系の色彩は、草原に広がる緑に対するやわらかな補色の効果を生み出し、画面にいっそうの輝きをもたらしています。
本作は1886年の第8回印象派展に出品された作品です。当時の批評家はこの作品を、｢近くで見るとカンヴァスはさまざまな色をした釘の頭の集まりのよう｣だが、｢適正な距離から見ると遠近法が生まれ、面は深さを持ち、空は適度な軽快さで処理されて、広大な空間とぼんやりした地平線の印象が生み出されている｣と評しています。

In the lush green meadow, cows graze, and on the right side of the canvas, apple blossoms are in full bloom. These are depicted using brushstrokes arranged like dots, without mixing the paint, creating vibrant color effects. The red of the signature, the reddish-brown of the houses, and the pink of the apple blossoms create a soft complementary effect against the green of the meadow, bringing additional brilliance to the composition.
This work was exhibited at the 8th Impressionist Exhibition in 1886. Critics of the time commented that "up close, the canvas resembles a collection of nails with various colors," but "from an appropriate distance, perspective emerges, surfaces gain depth, and the sky is treated with a moderate lightness, producing an impression of vast space and a faint horizon."
